Teaching Awards


1) Faculty Teaching Excellence Award

This prestigious ISOBD award serves to recognize outstanding contributions to higher education teaching by a full-time faculty member. Finalist nominees will be selected and notified prior to the March 30-April 1 2008 meeting of ISOBD, and the winner will be recognized at the conference. The winner will receive a commemorative plaque. Self-nominations are allowed and encouraged, as are those from department chairs and deans. Application materials will be judged via the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3-years full time faculty experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching methods
  • Evidence of scholarly accomplishment
  • Dedication to institutional service
  • Strong support of student activities
  • Subject matter knowledge
  • Innovative instructional methods
  • Utilization of service learning principles
  • Letter(s) of recommendation from superiors, students, etc.
Award Application Requirements

-Nomination Letter - Self nominations are acceptable and encouraged
-Current Vitae
-One Letter of Recommendation in addition to Nomination Letter
-Evidence of Performance Excellence - Determined by Applicant
-Other Relevant Supporting Materials

2) Outstanding Department Chair Award

ISOBD wishes to recognize the efforts of often unsung heroes - Department Chairs. This award is designed to recognize Department Chairs who create an environment of excellence that enables faculty members to excel in their work. The winning Department Chair will be recognized at theMarch 30-April 1 2008 meeting of ISOBD. The winner will receive a commemorative plaque. Self-nominations are allowed and encouraged. Application materials will be judged via the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3-years full time experience as a Department Chair
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the demands of the position
  • Evidence of responsiveness to multiple stakeholder groups
  • Dedication to the service of students and the furthering of knowledge
  • Outcomes measures that demonstrate departmental effectiveness
  • Letter(s) of recommendation from superiors, students, faculty, etc.

-Evidence of Performance Excellence - Determined by Applicant

3) College Dean Award

This coveted award seeks to honor Business School Deans who have gone above and beyond the typical expectations of such a position. The College Dean Award recipient must demonstrate his/her ability to support multiple constituencies of chairs, faculty, students and other administrators. The winning Dean nominee will be recognized at the March 30-April 1 2008 meeting of ISOBD. The winner will receive a commemorative plaque. Self-nominations are allowed and encouraged. Application materials will be judged via the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3-years full time experience as a Business College Dean
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the demands of the position
  • Evidence of responsiveness to multiple stakeholder groups
  • Dedication to the service of students and the furthering of knowledge
  • Outcomes measures that demonstrate Business College effectiveness
  • Letter(s) of recommendation from superiors, chairs, students, faculty, etc.
